Ugly, but functional.
I like having a place for everything. Besides, those drivers were somehow always in my way, no matter where I was working. Anybody have any more good shop hacks?
I feel like the pegboard real estate is being wasted, and I would love a better way to organize the huge number of power tools under the workbench.

me finks you need a cork board
endleslly customizable to fit nearly everyones needs
might wanna watch it with the heavy stuff tho.... cork is prone to sudden failure

I don't like how loose all the connections are. We've got pegboard already and I'm kinda thinking about shelves...

Nothing some a lot of sandpaper can’t fix.

shelves might be the way to go...
got idiot proof shelving at work... all the tools go in to their neatly machined out and colour coded holes..
people still fuck it up

Woah, hold on there. My functionality to cost/time ratio is currently fantastic, throwing sanding into the mix would screw that up royally

That is beautiful.
And isn’t it amazing how that happens? People screw up this system, somehow...

its impressive.... and its people you trust to do a job well
it boggles the mind
that said... my brother is the smartest person i know and he wouldnt know where to return the phone if it didnt have a cable attached to it
some peoples brains just dont seem to work for putting shit where it lives

It’s not ugly. Functional + finished without wasting time better used elsewhere = beauty. It’s the calculus of efficiency.

I really like that

It will now. If you’d done it before you put everything together it would be like 2 minutes with a palm sander to at least have some rounding.

A place for everything, and everything in its place ... you did what you had to do.

That would be me, I always have tools laying all over the place. Mostly for me though I’m like, “the job isn’t done yet so might as well keep the tools out”. Doesn’t help that I always seem to have four or five jobs going on. I always know where everything is though unless my wife “organized” for me lol

im the other end of the spectrum... my tools are always exactly where they supposed to be...
car/bike parts are wherever i got pissed off at them...

I also felt like power tools take up a lot of space on my pegboard, and I solved it like this. Hammer hooks are just wide enough to firmly hold the handles of my Bosch equipment...I don’t know about DeWalt but I’d imagine they’re similar.

Funny you mention this. I’ve been working on trying out some french cleats for hanging my tools this weekend:
I haven’t really ever had the space (or organizational skills) to have my tools this organized. So far I’m liking it. Since the picture was taken, I made hooks for my saws, pliers, and a few other things. Still a few more that need to go up, though.

I still need to go through the power tools to see what I have. The list is never ending...

Pretty nifty for something made out of scraps in ten minutes with no measuring beyond eyeballing.
